Aggressive And Compassionate

Compassionate Counsel And Strong Advocacy In Family Law Matters

Legal issues impacting your family can threaten what matters most in your life. The lawyer you choose can go a long way to creating effective solutions to these problems. I am attorney Melissa Eckstrom of Eckstrom Law Firm, PLLC. I understand how important your issue is, and will go the extra mile to help you.

Helping You Find Solutions To A Broad Spectrum Of Family Matters

A large part of my family law practice involves guiding people through the divorce process. I take on both contested and uncontested divorces, as well as divorce mediation. First and foremost, I help my clients develop sensible parenting plans to establish workable custody and visitation arrangements. I also handle division of property, child support, and when applicable, spousal maintenance.

I also work with people who need to modify child custody, visitation, or some other part of their parenting plan. One common issue people run into after a divorce involves relocation. In Washington, if you want to move out of your school district with your child, you must give the other parent 60 days’ notice. Failing to do so could create significant problems. If you want to relocate with your child, talk to me about how we can proceed under the law.

I also represent clients on both sides of domestic violence issues. If you need a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO), or have been accused of domestic violence, I am ready to help.

If we can work out your situation through negotiation or mediation, we will. On the other hand, if litigation is necessary, I will be ready to present a strong case to the judge. I tailor my approach to the circumstances of each case.
